The 7CP compact plunger pump with a big performance
Written by Bryan Orchard

7CP6110This month we are drawing your attention to the Cat Pumps model 7CP range.  Although this pump has been in production for several years, the 7CP is growing in popularity in the UK as it  represents an upgrade to the Cat Pumps long-established 7 Frame pumps. It is physically similar in size and installation dimensions to the model 530 and 550 pumps, but boasts much higher flow capability at up to 41 litres/min. Consequently, it also offers a viable alternative to the physically larger model 1050 pump.

The 7CP range appeals to OEMs and designers looking for a modern high quality, multi-application, compact pump with all the traditional features of a Cat Pumps triplex PD pump. The high level of build quality is reflected in the valves and seats, manufactured from 304 Stainless Steel and hardened and polished for ultimate seating and extended life. Additionally, the forged brass manifold resists corrosion and is attached by 8 high strength fasteners.  The V-packing High Pressure seals are lubricated and cooled by the pumped fluid and run on highly-polished alumina ceramic plungers resulting in excellent service life.

The possible applications for our 7CP range are too numerous to mention, but include stationary and mobile jet-washing units, vehicle cleaning, misting, multi-lance in-plant wash down units in the food industry and coolant flushing.

Operating at pressures between 7 and 140 bar, this positive-displacement pump is remarkably compact and can be direct-driven at 4-pole or 6-pole motor speeds using a Cat Pumps bell-housing mounted directly to a suitable IEC B5 motor flange. As a result, the 7CP plunger pump can fulfil those duties on plant and equipment where space is at a premium.  The ‘press-in’ style seal case and convenient access to the inlet and outlet valves makes the pump easy to maintain and operate. Should pump users require an intermediate speed, the 7CP pump can be installed on a base plate using dedicated mounting rails, complete with belt-drive or inline geared motor.
