 Seal Design
Correct seal design and selection are vital to the durability of a Cat Pump. The seals are the only sliding surfaces in the head. Cat Pumps offers a unique seal design and exclusive material blends, with a variety of elastomers ensuring the best possible chemical compatibility. Cat Pumps is the only triplex reciprocating positive displacement pump manufacturer to offer genuine concentric, solid ceramic plungers with a high density polished surface that enhances seal life.
All pumps come with a double seal arrangement with secondary low pressure (LP) seals located on the atmospheric of the high pressure (HP) seals to reduce the potential for external leakage. The secondary seals are only required to seal the differential between the inlet pressure and the atmospheric pressure, greatly increasing their life and minimising premature leakage.
Where the pumped liquid does not have sufficient lubricity for the seals to function, a double seal arrangement can be configured to allow a compatible liquid to be circulated between the HP and LP seals.
