Cat Pumps U.K. Limited - Reduction in our Carbon Footprint

Cat Pumps U.K. Limited - Reduction in our Carbon Footprint

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Natural disasters and extreme weather patterns pose significant risk to supply resilience and to communities around the world. Reducing emissions and adapting to climate change is critical to a successful future.

Cat Pumps (U.K) Ltd has taken action to reduce our carbon footprint and transform our work environment and processes to be more energy sufficient for the future ahead.

A carbon footprint refers to the total amount of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide, emitted by an individual, organisation, or product. In the manufacturing industry, the production and disposal of goods significantly contribute to carbon emissions. Each stage, from raw material extraction to manufacturing processes and transportation, involves energy consumption and emissions.

As well as the reduction in carbon footprint, Cat Pumps help our customers achieve their environmental and carbon reduction applications with our pumps and pump systems. Case Studies in relation to these types of projects can be found using the links at the bottom of this page.

Carbon Footprint Reduction Actions

206 x 420w Solar Panels

A bespoke layout was devised to maximize rooftop space utilisation while harmonising with our facility's architectural aesthetics. Beyond reducing energy costs, this installation actively contributes clean energy back to the grid, marking our commitment to the environmental responsibility and energy independence. The 206-panel solar system significantly reduces our reliance on conventional energy sources.

Making the Switch to LED Lighting

Switching to LED lighting throughout our facility offers significant energy savings over incandescent, halogen and compact fluorescent alternatives. On average, LEDs consume 80% less energy when compared to incandescent light bulbs and last considerably longer.

Electric Company Vehicle & EV Charging Points

Electric cars are better, cleaner and kinder to the environment than their petrol or diesel-powered counterparts. This is because they are typically powered with a lithium-ion battery charged by electricity, rather than a combustion engine that runs on fossil fuels. At Cat Pumps we have EV charging ports to encourage the use of electric vehicles by our staff.

While acting on climate change is challenging and requires significant investment, it is critical to the strength of business now and in the future. We aim to significantly reduce our energy dependency by harnessing solar power, reduce energy expenses, minimise carbon emissions and actively contribute clean energy to the grid while setting an example for sustainable practices in the industrial sector. We have implemented these changes across our UK operation and are prioritising actions in our energy conservation.
